Entry requirements

What will I study?

You will study: Unit 4. Is an investigative/analytical essay and you write about an area of media that you are interested in. For example in the last few years we have had essays on: The representation of Masculinity in Nip/Tuck, Star Wars, Lost, Grand Theft Auto and an analysis of Britney Spears in pop videos. This unit gives you the opportunity to persue your own area of media interest. In Unit 5. You will study television and advertising, national and global. You will be asked to study advertising campaigns of your choice as well as analysing the output of your favourite TV channels. Unit 6 is a synoptic unit that brings together everything that you have learnt on the course. It focuses on a specific genre and this year's genre is Crime, on TV, print and crime in film.

How will I be assessed?

There are two examinations in this unit and they can be taken in January or June. Unit 5 and 6 are examined but you will also be assessed on your analytical essay (unit 4.)
