The course is designed to give you an introduction to the skills and basic concepts of counselling, by acting as a ?taster?. It will enhance the communication and people skills for those already working within other care based professions.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

What will I study?

You will study: Introduction to Alternative Helping Strategies; Skills & Qualities of Counselling; Introduction to the three-stage helper model of counselling and person centred counselling; Referral & Safety of Others and Endings & Transitions.

How will I be assessed?

It is an ongoing assessment process with a skill practical assessment and weekly journals for the duration of the course.

Career Opportunities & Progression

This qualification allows progression into the intermediate certificate in counselling course.
