First Steps in Information Technology (OCN)

Course Outline

This course is an ideal introduction to using a computer for beginners. It gives a basic introduction to the most popular computer packages. You will achieve Open College Network Certificates in Computer Software Applications

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required for this course.

What will I study?

You will study: Basic Word Processing; Basic Spreadsheets & Charts; Electronic Communications; Basic Database; Desktop Publishing PowerPoint; Basic File Management and Basic Internet.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is carried out through assignments, which are internally marked and externally moderated. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace and assessment will be carried out at appropriate intervals through out the course.

Career Opportunities & Progression

This course is excellent preparation for New CLAIT, Modular Awards or Intermediate Steps in IT.
