This 1-year course provides the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to work in the Hospitality & Catering Industry. This course is practically based; you will be given the opportunity to spend the majority of your time in the kitchen and restaurant within the college environment.

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required for this course. Motivation, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are essential. In addition you will be invited to attend an interview.

What will I study?

You will study both practical and theoretical subjects with regard to both kitchen and restaurant. This course is practically based, you will be given the opportunity to spend the majority of your time in the kitchen and restaurant within the college environment.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is on a continuous basis and you will need to compile a portfolio of your work throughout the course. The NVQ will be assessed in the college and whilst on work placement.

Career Opportunities & Progression

After successfully completing this programme you may be able to progress to NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery or Hospitality Supervision or you could apply for a post as a Commis Chef or Waiter etc.
