The course is made up of 12 units- six core units, which everyone takes, and six specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in depth and there is opportunity to follow a clear career pathway in, Mechanical, Electronic and fabrication & Welding Engineering. These specialist pathways are recognized in the following endorsed qualification titles: BTEC National Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering (Mechanical) BTEC National Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering (Electronic )

Entry requirements

You will normally need to have at least one of the following: · A BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in related subject · An Intermediate GNVQ in a related subject · At least four GCSEs at grade A*-C including Mathematics

What will I study?

You will study 12 units in total 6 units in year 1 and 6 units in year 2 All students take these 6 core units: Business Systems for Technicians *Communications for Technicians Science for Technicians Mathematics for Technicians *Project ? Manufacturing Manufacturing Systems & Technology *These units contribute towards the externally assessed Integrated Vocational Assignment You will also study Engineering Materials, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Design, Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM), World Class Manufacturing Quality Techniques

How will I be assessed?

All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded
